There is much confusion about the three different styles of Siamese. Here are my own personal descriptions:
Traditional/Applehead/Old Style

These are the type of cats that I breed. These are the type of Siamese that most people remember from their childhood. The are very rare these days. Their head has a round shape to it, they are neither long and thin or short and stocky. Everything about them is medium. These cats are intelligent and typically mellow and quiet. These cats were not allowed to be shown up until March of 2008. That is when CFF accepted them for Championship competition under the name Old Style Siamese.
Modern Wedge

These cats are the exact opposite of the Traditional Siamese. They are long, refined and have a graceful look. When you look at their head you can clearly draw a triangle from one ear to the other and then to the tip of the chin. They have been in the showhalls for many many years. These cats are intelligent and typically have a high energy level and are very vocal. They tend to be very loyal to one person.
Classic/Thai

This is the most common style Siamese. Their style is somewhere in the middle of the Traditional and the Modern Wedge. Their head is not round or triangular and they are a bit more heavily boned than a Modern Siamese. Like all Siamese, they are intelligent but their energy level and vocalness can vary depending on their heritage. Some breeders also refer to these cats as Old Style since this type was also not able to be shown until the last few years. Now they can be shown in TICA under the breed name, Thai.
